Race Results 08/7 - 13/11 QMA Dirt Grand Nationals, Taylorville, IL @ CCQMA

The Dirt Grand Nationals - a week long event held by QMA, this year in Taylorville, IL at Christian County QMA. After our drive and race at the Little Hoosier 100 (which broke up the 13+hr drive) we were ready for the QMA race we had been preparing for since February. There were 230 cars, 2 days of practice, then Qualifying. Elwood qualified 19th in Jr Honda (will be in E-Main). Also racing Jr Honda, Nikki set FAST TIME!! Nikki goes right to the-Main! JoJoe qualified 27th (and will be in the E-Main). Calvin qualified 3rd fastest in Lt Mod!! Nikki qualified 27th in Lt 160 (also E-Main bound...) Calvin qualified 2nd Fastest in Lt B (1st time in this car/motor!) - he almost had Track Record/Fast Time, but for the last car to qualify who beat his time! And finally, Calvin in Lt WF qualified 5th Fastest - and would start on the Pole of the A-Main. Out of our 7 cars we Qualified 4 directly into the A-Main and the other 3 would all be in the E-Mains!
Starting the Lower Mains - we were in races 1,2,3,5,6,7, 10 & 11 on the 1st day of racing! JoJoe was in the 1st Race - Sr Honda E Main starting 7th out of 11, he raced really well and finished 2nd!! Race 2 was Elwood in the Jr Honda E Main starting 2nd out of 6 and finishing 3rd!! Nik was race 3, Lt 160 E-Main starting 7th out of 10 and finishing 4th!! Race 5 was JoJoe again in the D-Main, where he started 7th out of 10 and finished 5th!! Elwood in race 6 started 7th out of 8 in the Jr Honda D-Main, he finished 4th!! Nik was in race 7 for Lt 160 D-Main he started 8th out of 10 and finished 7th (our 1st car out of the show.)
The next race for us was JoJoe in Sr Honda C Main, starting 10th out of 10 he finished 6th  - and was the X car (alternate) for the B-Main. Elwood was the next race (our last of the day) and he started 8th out of 8 and finished 5th - also the X car for the Jr Honda B-Main. GREAT RACING BOYS!!
Neither JoJoe or Elwood made it out in the B-Mains, so we were down two more cars, and they were both done.
Saturday was A-Mains, Slick Nikkle was our 1st race for Jr Honda, starting 4th out of 8. Nikki raced really well and finished 3rd, but the top 2 cars were DQ'd for cheating (1's motor was badly cheating! and the other cheated with a restrictor plate! - really?? at the Grands ??) So Nikki was crowned Dirt  Grands National Champion!!!!!!! YaHoo!!
Calvin was in the rest of our races today, he was going to get a lot of track time... Lt Mod is his 1st race, starting 3rd out of 10, he races real well, was taken out by another car but raced back up and got a 4th Place Finish! His next race was Lt B, he started 4th, but had engine problems and ended with a DNF (his car was fast b4 that though. Finally, Calvin's Lt WF. Starting on the Pole, he took the lead and raced real well, but ended up finishing 7th.
Overall a great week for our race team! We couldn't be any prouder of all of them! Super racing Boys!! Now for the really long drive home...14+ hours of driving, and we stopped in Indianapolis overnight on the way home. Very tired and needed a break after this one!

Race Results 07/19/11 - Keystone State

Our last race until our USAC/QMA National tour weeks, and right after returning from Eldora, we were excited to be back at our home track. We didn't have everyone racing, just JoJoe, Jake, and Elwood. It was Features only tonight. Jake & Elwood didn't do too great, but JoJoe had a 2nd Place finish in Sr Honda! Our Christmas in July race was OK (the boys did get to see Santa at least!)

Race Results 07/15-16/11 USAC .25 Triple Crown #2 - Kings Royal @ Eldora

Wow, we are back at Eldora - at the WoO Kings Royal weekend and was it exciting!! The track conditions were not great - about the same as last year's inaugural race. But it was all good!
This weekend we had 7 cars and 4 drivers. JoJoe was in the 1st race- Sr Honda, starting 2nd, he finished 2nd - great job!! Elwood was in our next race for Jr Honda, he started 3rd and finished 3rd!! Super racing! Next race was Nikki in Jr Honda he started 3rd and finished 5th. Next race was Mod for Calvin he started on the Pole and was leading the race when he got wrecked by Kyle Lee who was not fast enough to pass Calvin clean, so he wrecked him to get by (and got sent to the back for it) but Calvin's car was broke so he was done in the Heat. Next race was Calvin and Nikki in Lt 160 starting 5th & 6th respectively. Calvin had a great finish in 2nd and Nikki finished 6th. Out last Heat was Calvin in Lt WF - starting 2nd, Calvin got black flagged...
Racing continued, JoJoe was in the Sr Honda A-Main he started 2nd and finished 4th - great racing JoJoe! Next was Elwood and Nikki in Jr Honda A-Main - Elwood started 5th and Nikki 10th. Elwood raced well and finished 7th. Nikki started at the back of the pack and determinedly raced his way through the field dominating the race track to WIN the race!!!!! A very proud moment for us!!
Calvin was in the next race - Mod - he started 3rd and finished in 2nd! Yea!
Our next race was Lt 160, Calvin & Nikki were in this, Calvin was racing strong in 4th and Nikki raced his way up to 5th, right behind Calvin. With only a few laps to go, Nikki's car suddenly broke a steering rod (we think from an earlier contact during the race). Nik ended up with a DNF & Calvin a 4th place finish.  Our final race was Calvin in Lt WF, Calvin raced well again and finished in 4th!
Overall a really great weekend for PWP Racing!!

Race Results 07/5-9/11 USAC .25 Battle at the Brickyard

Our 2nd Brickyard in Indianapolis - and if last year was really cool, this year was better.  We arrived 4th of July night and the next day we went to the track for sign ins and parking (and that did take a real long time) but that evening USAC hosted a meet and greet BBQ dinner (which was awesome) and we got to meet Indy Car driver...Thu was Heats. having only 6 cars this week & 3 drivers (3 are at Grandma's) we were in 5 Heat races.  Our 1st race (race 2) was Elwood on the Pole of Jr Honda and Nikki starting 5th. It took Nikki a while to get by Elwood, who had dropped back thru the field. So they ended up finishing 5th (Nik) & 6th Elwood. Our next race was #17 Nikki in Lt 160 where he was starting on the Pole. Nikki did not do so well, he finished 8th. The next race was Calvin's Lt 160 race he started 4th and finished 5th. Then another break and our next race was #30 Mod - Calvin started 2nd and finished 4th. Finally the next to last race, which was our last, was Calvin's Lt WF where he started 4th and finished 6th. Not so great finishes for us in the Heats. We were done racing for the day and went to see the USAC Ford Focus Midget races at the Indianapolis Speedrome - this was really cool and we knew many of the drivers from racing Quarter Midgets!
Friday was Lower Mains. Nikki was in the 1st race - Lt 160 F Main. He finished 7th out of 10 and that car was done for us. The next race was Jr Honda D-Main with Elwood who finished 9th, another car done.Nikki was in the Jr Honda C Main, starting 6th out of 10 he finished 5th (and will be X car in B-Main). Our next race was Calvin in Lt Wf C-Main, he started 5th and finished 3rd!For the Jr Honda B-Main, Nik did not get out so he was done. Our last race of the day was the Lt WF B-Main. Calvin started 9th out of 10 and raced really strong, but coming to checkers he got wrecked and ended up finishing 7th - instead of making the A-Main :(
We were down to 1 car for the A-Mains on Saturday, Calvin in Mod, where he was starting 8th out of 12. This race was amazing - Calvin was wrecked so many times, ended up on top of another car, broke and broke again, and came in to the pits and went back out many times - the car was put together with duct tape! And he still managed to get a 2nd Place Finish! Amazing!
All of the boys raced really well - it was a good time.

Race Results 05/28-29/11 - QMA National Dirt States Race @ Keystone

288 Cars racing this weekend (wow!) We had 8 of them. It's a hot weekend - there was a chance of rain, but we got lucky. Friday night was practice, Sat am (early) is Qualifying. 1st out for us is JoJoe in Sr Honda. He qualified OK (G-Main out of K, so right in middle). Next is Jake, Elwood, & Nikki. Jake qualified in the G-Main (lowest), Elwood in the E-Main, and Slick Nikkle was 4th fastest to Qualify so he is in the A-Main!! (On the Pole!) Our next to Qualify is Calvin in Lt Mod - where he BROKE THE TRACK RECORD!! (& he had the record b4!) Woo Hoo! So we had another A-Main start! Then for us was Calvin & Nikki in Lt 160, by this time the track is getting very dusty (slower), Calvin didn't qualify too great H-Main out of J & Nikki E-Main. Finally, Calvin had Lt WF, where he qualified in the middle - C-Main.

After a while the Lower Mains started, we were starting in race 8 with Calvin's Lt 160 H-Main. Now for the lower mains I'll just give the highlights since we were in CONSECUTIVE RACES 8-12 & 14-20, THEN #23 & 28 before A-Mains. The 1st 3 races were Sat night, the rest were starting Sunday morning!! Basically Joe pushed them onto the track (& made any adjustments), I got them off the track, hydrated, pushed back over to line ups (fueling if necessary) and watching the next race in the meantime!

We were now done with lower mains. We had some time before the A-Mains started, some of us took power naps, but all too soon on this fine Sunday, it was time for our 1st A-Main event.

Nikki started on the Pole out of 8. He immediately took a big lead in the 30 lap race, as the laps were winding down, Nikki came up on lapped traffic (& they didn't move over - they raced him) this allowed the 2nd & 3rd place cars to catch up. As Nikki passed some lapped cars, the 2nd place car took the lead - he kept the lead for several laps. On the Last Lap there was more lapped traffic, Nikki maneuvered his way around and as they went thru turn 3 & 4 Nikki took over the lead and WON the JR HONDA A-MAIN!!! The stands (& us) went wild! It felt like winning Daytona! Yahoo!!

We were able to bask in this win for 2 races, then it was time for Calvin to go out in Lt Mod. He started 5th out of 8. He raced well, was pounded on by a couple of cars, then had some mechanical difficulty and wasn't as fast as he should be. Calvin ended up finishing 5th.

It was a really good weekend - the boys all raced their hearts out and did a fabulous job! Yes we were all very tired when it was done (& while it was going on...) but it was all worth it. We go home after 1am so it was pretty good for a National event (at our home track)!

Race Results 9/11/11 @ Keystone State - Sr Honda Cup race & 9/11 Memorial

Today was the 10th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy and our track in conjunction with the Schnecksville FD hosted an honorable event. Racing was postponed until after the national moment of silence at 1pm and following commemoration for some local individuals, then it was time to race. First up for us was Calvin and JoJoe having Qualifying for the Sr Honda Cup race (Calvin broke out his old car for this and it may be the last time he uses it since Ivan is starting driver training with it next week!) They did not qualify very well so would be starting in the lower mains. Next up was Jr Honda - there were 3 races and each boy was in a different Heat. 1st up was Elwood, he started 3rd and raced real well, and finished 4th.
Next race was Nikki, starting last he raced his way through the field and WON!!! Super job NIK!! Next race was Jake, he started 5th and really tried his best today and finished 4th! The very next race was Nikki in Lt 160, he started 5th and raced hard and finished 5th. Our final Heat race was Calvin in Lt WF, he started 3rd and finished 4th also racing hard.
After a long intermission, racing started, we of course had our work cut out for us. 1st race was the Sr Honda E-Main, Calvin started 6th and raced up to 2nd but coming to the finish he was bumped and recovered to finish 3rd. We were next in the 3rd race, JoJoe and Calvin in the Sr Honda D-Main, starting 4th and 8th respectively. JoJoe went on to finish 2nd and Calvin 5th - both moving up to the next main! Next race was Jr Honda B-Main Elwood started 4th and Jake 6th. Both boys ran great and tried their best, but Elwood finished 3rd (1 position from making A-main) and Jake finished 8th (but not for lack of trying!) The very next race was JoJoe and Calvin in the Sr Honda C-Main (starting 7th & 10th). Calvin got black flagged and JoJoe came in 6th. Nikki was in the Lt 160 C Main, he started on the Pole, took the lead, never giving it up, and won the race!! Win #2 today for Slick Nikkle!! Nikki was then in the Lt 160 B- Main, where he started 7th and finished 10th.
Our next race was the Jr Honda A-Main. Nikki was starting 2nd, he did not take the lead at the start, he was shuffled back to about 4th and had to race his way through the field. He had just taken the lead when it started to rain. There was a bunch of caution laps as the track decided what to do with the race - with only 3 laps to go - they decided to go green and finish the race. The track was slick (think ice skating) but Slick Nikkle was up for it and he WON!! For his 3rd win of the day!!!
Calvin would have gone out next in Lt WF, but the rest of the show was called due to rain & lightning.
All of our boys raced really good today - we were very happy with their efforts!

Race Results 9/10/11 - Microstocks at Mahoning Valley Speedway

Tonight was our last Microstock race at Mahoning for the season. It was a good season, better for Calvin, although with travelling we did miss a few races for the series. We do have another race at Snydersville coming up on dirt, and are looking forward to it!
I was in the 1st Heat, starting on the Pole and had problems with my motor and finished 7th. Turns out as I was getting off the track my motor blew and there was a rod thrown in the motor - so i was not going to be a able to race in the Feature.
Calvin was in the 2nd Heat, he started 2nd and took the lead! But as the race progressed he was passed and ended up finishing 4th. Still he raced very well!
Calvin started 8th in the Feature and raced up then to avoid a wreck in front of him he spun out, he got shuffled to the back then and he raced his way back up through the field - looked great out there! He made it up to 4th and tried to pass for 3rd at the end of the race but didn't - but 4th was really good! Great Job Calvin!!

2011 USAC MOPAR .25 MID-ATLANTIC SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP

PWP Racing took part in the USAC Mopar .25 Mid-Atlantic Series this year. The series consisted of 3 races during the year, one each in Nashville, TN,  Salisbury, NC, and Atlanta, GA. Calvin is this year's Champion in MOD class!!! He did a great job and worked hard! And we are very proud of him!! Among our other boys, Nikki achieved 4th pace in Jr Honda followed by Elwood who tied for 5th!! And Calvin also had 5th place in Lt World Formula!
We are so proud of our boys and their efforts!!

Race Results 08/30/11 - KSQMRC

Our last Tue night race of the year at Keystone (remaining races will go back to Sunday Afternoons!) We had all of the boys racing - extended Feature races. Calvin's Lt Wf was 1st up for us, he started 4th and finished 4th when this race timed out with 12 laps to go out of 30 laps. Nikki, Elwood, & Jake were in our next race together for Jr Honda, starting 1, 3,  5 respectfully. Slick Nikkle went on to lead the entire race and win (25 laps) and Elwood finished 4th with Jake 5th. Next was Nikki in Lt 160, he started 6th and finished 6th. Finally, JoJoe was in Sr Honda starting 5th and finishing 6th.

Race Results - 08/23/11 - Keystone State

Our 1st race back since the Grands - we had to finish getting cars ready at the track, after sitting in traffic.. There were 85 cars tonight and it was decided to do extended Features only - 25 laps for Jr classes, 35 for Sr classes. Our 1st race was Nikki in Jr Honda - he started 6th and raced his way up to 2nd, not able to pass the leader for the win. Great racing though Nik! Calvin Lt Wf next he started 4th and finished 5th. JoJoe started 6th in Sr Honda and raced up to finish 2nd! Great Job JoJoe!! Finally, Nikki was in Lt 160, he started last - 9th - and raced up to 5th. It was a pretty good night, although no wins.
